- Description
- The ethical and political aspects of language documentation work have been brought increasingly to the forefront in recent literature. This is a vast and complex field, where no universally valid solutions can be offered, since both the nature of the issues and the appropriate way of resolving them will vary widely between communities and situations. In the words of Grinevald (2006: 351), 'the different agents involved create a maze of commitments of often conflicting nature, and...one of the major challenges of fieldwork is to juggle all these constraints, requirements, and commitments'.
